The Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics are two very similar teams, both predicated by their chemistry and efficiency on offense (IND ranks 5, WAS 6th overall in their last 10 games) and both struggle on defense. In any case, we couldn't help but notice some outliers in the first two meetings. Firstly, few teams are as efficient as the Fever and Mystics in the 1st quarter. That's been true all season (they're top-6), but it's been especially true recently. Indiana is the #1 offense in the WNBA in the first quarter; Washington is #2. The Fever also run the floor at the fastest pace in the association in the first 10 minutes, a factor that obviously acts as a major catalyst for early high-scoring. The Mystics haven't held up their end of the bargain in the first two meetings, scoring just 19 and 17 points, respectively, in the opening quarter. Still, in their last 10 games, no 1st quarter outfit has scored more on average than the Fever (24.2 ppg), and the Mystics aren't that far behind (22.3). 

The last first quarter between the Fever and Mystics amounted to just 38 points; there's little reason why we should expect that again. Washington is coming off a game where they only scored 14 points in the first against an angry Lynx defense. Before that, in their last 6 games since facing the Fever, they averaged 24 ppg . Indiana is coming off a huge win against the Liberty, where they put up 28 points in the fourth quarter. That momentum should transfer beautifully in a second straight game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. We anticipate points, nice and early this time, as the market has again overcorrected and ithe listed number is far too low to ignore.
