Lulu Sun Wins (+230 at 888Sport)

8:00 AM EST (Tuesday). Last week, we didn't know who Lulu Sun was. You're probably in the same boat. The rising 23-year old, who's now doubled her career winnings in just one tournament, is the first ever New Zealander to make it this far in London. Emma Raducanu was a -690 favorite leading into their fourth round match, but Sun's third set rally (she finished the match with a 6-2 final set) left all doubt behind - she's here to compete, and she's a real threat with so many big names out.

Donna Vekic is a fine player and she's looked very good on grass this season. Before Wimbledon, she made it to the finals in Bad Homburg before falling to Diana Shnaider in three sets, but she looked sharp along the way. What's also worth noting is her level of competition on this grass season. She's dispatched opponents like Jule Niemeier, Lucia Bronzetti, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Viktoriya Tomova - all formidable, but not exactly elite foes. Whenever Vekic went up against bigger names - Shnaider, Pegular, even Greet Minnen, who brings far more power than Vekic - the Croatian has failed. Bottom line: Vekic has been above-average on the greens this season, but she hasn't really been tested, either.

Sun's recent victories are more impressive, and it's what Vekic and other opponents don't know about the surging Kiwi that makes her very dangerous. Her naivete combined with an aggressive, free-flowing style is likely to rattle Vekic, who admitted she never heard of her before. We'll ride the Lulu-train for at least one more stop.
