12:30 PM EST. Caroline Wozniacki was sensational on Thursday, losing the second set to Leylah Fernandez, then rediscovering her form and overcoming the talented Canadian in the third. The former Australian Open champion continues her run at Wimbledon with the hope that she can resurrect her world-class form of the past, and there are certainly signs that she still has that ability. Top-tier players have a way of turning matches around, whether it be by their serve or their tenacity or just pure brilliance in the way they return their opponents best shots. Wozniacki has a combination of all those elite factors, but Saturday will present a much bigger challenge

Elena Rybakina has the same ice-cold disposition and execution that we saw in her Wimbledon win two years ago. Few women in the world can match her power and finesse when she’s in rhythm and not in her head; it’s the mental errors, like letting her opponents hang around too long, that has derailed her chances in recent tournaments. For the most part she has avoided such gaffes in London, but her second round battle with Laura Siegemund was yet another example of Rybakina playing down to her competition. Still, there is a resolve and a confidence that we see in the Kazakhstani that’s become a sign of her top form, and at this juncture that still means she’s a better position than her aged opponent.

We can't take the former Australian Open winner against this version of Rybakina, but Wozniacki looks very comfortable on grass and we expect her to take advantage of her opponent's habitual mental lapses. This will be a long match, but the favorite comes out on top in what could have been an amazing rivalry if Caroline was still in her prime.
