6:15 AM EST. Barbora Krejcikova and Veronika Kudermetova are set to clash for the second time this season. Their first match was a barnburner; a 3-set, 32-game battle in early April where Kudermetova just barely eked out a win in Stuttgart, Germany. On full display was the many similarities of each competitor, both graceful in their movement but fierce with every opportunity, the eye-test revealing a true clash of evenly-skilled foes. Both women successfully execute their initial serve over 60% of the time, which is in the good-not-great category, and although they boast formidable win-rates on first-serves, neither is explosive enough to overwhelm the other. Kudermetova is the slight favorite after a nice run on grass, earning impressive wins over some very formidable opponents in June, but this is a virtual coin flip. They're both likely to win a set; if not we expect a closely fought, long battle either way.
