8:00 AM EST. Tommy Paul has been one of the most consistent men's performers this season, at the top of his game heading into Wimbledon and swiftly handling his first round opponent, despite allowing one set to slip away. In any case, even Paul's recently divine form doesn't completely deter us from showing some love to Otto Virtanen. Virtanen was the underdog against the 68th ranked Max Purcell, and he quickly made mincemeat of the Aussie in their first round match. The Finnish 6'3" 23-year old is a volatile player, a guy who saved 8 match points in the qualifier to make it to Wimbledon's first round and then looked suddenly composed and cerebral in his dispatch of Purcell. We're not sure what we'll get from Otto in round two but he'll need to be at the top of his game against the even-keel nature of Paul, although that's a dynamic that we could see favoring the Finn at key moments in this affair. Virtanen is an attacker and will stop at nothing to take Paul off his game. Overall it's not going to work most of the time, but we like the pooch to get a few barks in at some point and when he's in good form, he's tough to slow down. Paul gives up another set and moves on.
