Elina Svitolina 2-1 (+290 at SportsInteraction)
This week in Wimbledon, we'll have a rare selection of high-value wagers to make through the next 3-4 days. Since we anticipate a higher-volume of plays during this period, we're releasing "micro-articles," shorter write-ups with more options available. Let's get started!
6:15 AM EST. The narrative out there is that Elina Svitolina loves Wimbledon. That might be true, but she's been more consistent at the French Open and it's not like we're talking about a champion. Don't get us wrong, we love Svitolina. Her fire last year was amazing to watch, overcoming Iga Swiatek with the weight of her country on her back, refusing to shake hands with any Russian players throughout the event. We enjoyed wagering on her and found ourselves wishing she'd win the damn thing, but an ice-cold Marketa Vondrousova sent her packing. In any case, there's reason to believe that Svitolina can go far in this tournament, but the truth is since last year's Wimbledon, tennis hasn't gone her way. A back problem sidelined her in the fourth round of the Australian Open, and she's been quickly booted out of most lower-level tournaments this season. Two years ago, fans thought Svitolina might retire, but after a resurgence last year, it's fair to wonder how much she has left in the tank. Madga Linette is a formidable player, ranked 44th in the world in singles, and she's had a few nice wins this season. She is not at Svitolina's level when the Ukrainian is in-rhythm on grass, but we're betting that it might take her some time to find it.
