6:00 AM EST. Harriet Dart isn't a high-level competitor on most surfaces but she thrives on grass. Ranked #2 among British women's singles, she's seen more success since returning to green courts, with impressive recent wins against Marie Bouzkova and Sofia Kenin. She even took Katie Boulter, Brittain's #1 women's player and a girl who's been white-hot for the last month, to a 3-set, 35-game slobberknocker at the Rothesay Open. But Harriet Dart is also known for her cyclical disappointments, never quite stacking up to the form many thought she was capable of after some solid wins in the past, and her opponent on Tuesday is no joke. Bai Zhuoxuan played very well in the qualifiers, winning 6 straight sets and showing grit in the second round when she had to succeed in not one but two tiebreaks. She's also won 67% of her first serve points in 2024, something that could prove to be a big issue for Dart, who struggles to return against power-hitters (she only has a 36.8% first-return points win-rate this year). Dart wins, but we're giving Zhuoxuan a set, too.
