10:05 PM EST. While the Chicago Sky are enjoying the feeling of victory, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever must be fired up after the way they lost on Sunday. At one point near the end of the third quarter, Indiana was beating Chicago by 15 points, seemingly in the driver's seat and about to earn another W against their rival. Then Angel Reese happened, and the Fever capitulated. Lacking defensive discipline and scoring just 15 points in the fourth quarter, we don’t think there’s any way that Indiana will come out lifeless in Seattle. Sleepless in Seattle? Perhaps.

Speaking of Seattle, the Storm just had one of their biggest wins of the season, dropping the Connecticut Sun at home four days ago, and earning the respect of their peers in the process. It was only the third game that the Sun had lost all season, but on both sides of the court Seattle was more tenacious and more effective when it mattered. Now 2-0 against Caitlin Clark and the Fever, we doubt that Seattle is concerned about Thursday’s matchup. They’re at home, and they’re staying home for damn near a month— their next road game is scheduled for July 16th. Noelle Quinn’s outfit is probably visiting friends and spending more time with family, enjoying the comfort of their own locale while they wait for the next competition.

We can’t love that for Seattle early in Thursday’s battle, but we’re not going to bet against them, either. Besides, there’s a more friendly wager to attack. The Fever have been electric in the first quarter recently, averaging 26 ppg in their last five contests and daring offenses to keep up. It’s mostly worked, but better teams (Chicago, Connecticut, New York), have matched Indiana’s fervor (see what I did there) and used it against them, taking advantage of one of the WNBA‘s worst defenses. Many Fever games become instant overs because of how the first quarter/half starts, and we see this being no different. Expect a well rested Storm squad and a vengeful underdog to produce plenty of early buckets.
