Hamilton +6½ over Toronto

7:00 PM EST. The Tiger-Cats have won two straight games, but they are being given little respect from the oddsmakers, as they are taking back a significant pile of points in a rivalry game. Furthermore, the Tabbies just beat the Argos on Labour Day in Hamilton three weeks ago. Hamilton is still just 4-9, but in a league where six of nine teams make the playoffs, the Ti-Cats aren’t dead yet, as they trail Saskatchewan by 1½ games for a potential crossover spot in the West, which is having a down year.

Despite their subpar record, the Tabbies lead the league in yards per play this season. However, they put themselves behind the 8-ball early by turning the ball over at a high rate. As it usually does, those turnovers and bounces tend to even out, and Hamilton has improved on both sides of the ball in recent weeks. That includes a defense now run by former Elks coach Chris Jones, who took over the D three games ago.

We faded Toronto last week in B.C. and ripped up that ticket with the Argonauts winning outright, 33-17 in Vancouver. The Argos dominated the Lions, but they also had the benefit of B.C. playing QB carousel with both Nathan Rourke and Vernon Adams Jr. getting looks but being unable to get anything flowing for the Lions. That was a big win, and the Boatmen were a +4½-point underdog. However, today they are not an underdog, but instead favored by more than a touchdown. That’s a significant double-digit swing from one week to the next, especially with their biggest rival visiting BMO Field. There are too many points being offered up here in a game the Tabbies can win, and we’re not passing them up.
