Winnipeg -9 over Montreal

8:30 PM EST. First and foremost, we must acknowledge that we are not in the habit of spotting points in this range. However, there are exceptions to every rule, and we can't help but wonder what this line would be if the Alouettes had not won four straight games, including a 3-1 Against the Spread record (ATS) across those games.

If that weren’t enough, Cody Fajardo is back under center for the Als after missing last week's 25-24 win over Ottawa, but again, we must stress that Montreal is the hottest team in the East, it is paying out at a high clip ATS, and the Alouettes are getting their starting pivot back, yet they are STILL near double digits in Winnipeg. Why? What does that tell you?

As for the Blue Bombers, we are still talking about a team that is far and away the class of this league. Winnipeg is on a four-game winning streak of its own, but when that is the norm and W's are the expectation, those wins do not get much attention. Furthermore, the Bombers failed to cover in both of their games in Alberta the last two weeks, first knocking off Edmonton 38-29 after going down 22-0 as a -13-point road favorite in Week 10. Last week in Calgary, the Bombers played without starting QB Zach Collaros, and they narrowly edged out the Stampeders 19-18 as a -4½-point favorite.

Finally, the Bombers were a -6-point favorite in Montreal on Canada Day (July 1), and they won that game 17-3. As for their most recent trip to Winnipeg, the Als gave the Bombers trouble in this spot in this same week last season when they were a 9-point underdog. The Als won that game 20-17 in overtime. While that trip to the Manitoba Capital should have no bearing on this game, it has been used as fodder for those looking to make a case for Montreal. If you bet Montreal today, you may indeed win, but you are, too late to the party. Montreal’s stock is higher than it’s been all year, so now is the time to sell at this very appealing price.
