5:05 PM EST. OT included. Situational betting is a big part of our process and in that regard, the Predators are in about the worst possible spot here. After games in Arizona and Colorado, the playoff-bound Preds will head to the East Coast to play a completely meaningless game against a completely meaningless team. Just go over the schedule for a second and try and imagine how uninspiring this lone game must be for the Preds. They just played Winnipeg, in Arizona and in Colorado. After playing in Buffalo tonight, the Preds will return home to play the Maple Leafs. Aside from that, Nashville wasn’t even the better team against Arizona or Colorado as they were outshot in both and out-Corsied in both also during 5v5 Score and Venue Adjusted results. The Preds are winning a ton of one-goal games lately, which is not a skill, it’s all luck. If they are less than 100% committed here, they will be very vulnerable and we don’t trust them to be 100% committed against a team that they rarely see and no scores to settle with.

Jack Eichel returned last game and the Sabres promptly beat Chicago, 5-3. Over their last nine games, the Sabres have wins over Toronto, Boston and Tampa Bay among others and have picked up points in six of those nine games. Several Sabres are playing at a high level, especially Sam Reinhardt, Ryan O’Reilly and Rasmus Ristolainen. The Sabres will also get Kyle Okposo back tonight. Linus Ullmark will get the start tonight in goal for the Sabres. This is his second appearance this season but he’s been brilliant in the minors and all reports are that he’s the goalie of the future here. Buffalo is playing well and they’re healthy for the first time in a long time. Furthermore, it’s a big game for their coach Phil Housley, who spent the previous four years as an assistant coach in Nashville. The players love Housley and know how much a win will mean to him so figure the Sabres to be the more motivated team here by a wide margin. The price is sweet and the situation is sweeter, as Buffalo has become a much tougher out than people realize and will want to win this one for their coach. Frankly, this takeback is silly.
