The Oilers have dropped two straight to San Jose and Nashville but they had a great chance to beat the Preds and they also won four of five prior to dropping their last two. The Oilers still have issues to be sure and they give up too many scoring chances but they haven’t quit and they can put the puck in the net. That said, this is strictly a fade on the Rangers. The Oil just happen to be the opposition tonight.

The best thing about the Rangers is that they’ve won two in a row, which included a 3-1 victory in Calgary last night. That followed a 6-5 victory over the Canucks on Wednesday. That works in our favor here because New York's stock is higher than it should be, This is now the Rags third game in four days and tail-end of back-to-backs and while we usually don’t put a lot of emphasis on the fatigue factor, we will here because chasing players with the puck for 120 minutes straight is exhausting.

In Vancouver, the Rags were outshot 55-27. You could probably round up five friends tomorrow and not allow 55 shots by the Canucks. Last night in Calgary, the Rags were outshot 51-27. That’s two games in three days and 106 shots against. What that means is that the Rags played both games entirely in their own end and we cannot overstate enough how exhausting that is. Ever see exhausted penalty killers after a minute trying to desperately clear the puck so they can get some fresh bodies out there? Now times that by 60 minutes and times it again by two games or 120 minutes and that’s the Rangers coming in here tonight. The New York Rangers are a mess that can’t get out of their own end and if they pull off another miracle here for the third game in a row, so be it. Connor McDavid might break Darry Sittler’s record tonight. Ok, maybe not but you get the point.
