4:05 PM EST. OT included. The Flames play in the oldest barn in the league, and it shows, as they can barely seem to muster an effort when taking the ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome. It's hard to feel bad for Cow-Town though, as there were surely many opportunities to build a new arena when times were prosperous. Instead, everyone lined their pockets, and now that hard times have hit Alberta it's an "oh woe is me" story for the Flames who now must play in archaic conditions. This club is just 1-3-4 in its last eight games and a brutal 13-14-4 overall this season when playing on home ice. Calgary also returns home after two games in the Arizona and Las Vegas desert with their moms along for the ride. Lastly, it is no coincidence that since Mike Smith went down, the Flames struggles from last year are beginning to rear its ugly head again. The Flames are a massive risk at this price in this spot with unstable goaltending.
Remember when the Avalanche were the hottest team on ice? Well, this is a "what have you done for me lately" league and Colorado has lost three of its last four games. The market is fickle, and while it might be easy to write those earlier Avs off as a fluke, we like the direction this team is headed. Nathan MacKinnon is back in the lineup, as are a number of others in the supporting cast who were recently out of the lineup. Colorado's stock has plummeted since its amazing run, which means it is now worthy of another look. With points in its last two road games, Colorado is trending in the right direction and they’re being offered too much here to ignore.
