12:00 PM EST. OT included. The Penguins are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss in Dallas, which is nothing to hang your head over. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead and battled throughout while firing away 37 shots on net after beating the Golden Knights and outshooting them, 38-25. The Pens still picked up a point in Dallas and have now picked up 11 out of a possible 14 points over their last seven games. What we especially like is that the Penguins have not scored a PP goal in three straight games, which is just an anomaly that will get corrected sooner rather than later. Since January 1, the Pens rank 4th and 7th in the league respectively in 5v5 Score and Venue adjusted Corsi For % and Corsi Against/60. The Pens continue to play at a very high level and we get them at a small tag here because the Blue Notes are hot with eight wins in 11 games and are coming off a 6-1 win over Colorado followed by a 5-2 win in Winnipeg. That victory in Winnipeg absolutely looks great on paper but the Jets for whatever reason were flat as hell from start to finish.

We take nothing away from the Blues but they are not in the Penguins class. Playing the 23rd ranked strength of schedule, St. Louis has nine wins in 20 games against top-10 teams and 12 wins in 28 games against top-16 teams. In High Danger Chances since January 1, the Blues rank 17th in the NHL while the Penguins, playing a tougher schedule, rank first overall over that same span. Last week, we saw the Wild go into St. Louis and whack them, 6-2. On Feb 1, we saw the Bruins absolutely dominate the Blues for 60 minutes. Aside from that pair of teams over their last 10 games, the Blues have also played Ottawa (x2), Colorado (x2 - minus MacKinnon twice and Rantanen once), Arizona, Montreal and Buffalo. Good teams that play hard against the Blues beat them and if the Penguins show up and play hard, they’ll likely beat them too.
