7:05 PM EST. OT included. After a 17-game point streak, the Bruins returned from the break with a 3-1 loss to Anaheim to snap it. What often follows a loss after a prolonged unbeaten streak is another loss, as the streak takes on a life of its own. There is a letdown of sorts after it’s snapped and we could very well see that here. The loss on Tuesday was necessary. No way that a streak like that should continue for a Boston team that was missing Brad Marchand and (arguably) its best d-man in Charlie McAvoy. Injuries to David Backes and Anders Bjork further blurs the Bruins’ offensive options. Peter Cehlarik was called up, and Frank Vatrano is expected to suit up again as well. The Bruins are vulnerable right now and this is the perfect time to step in against them.

St. Louis is on a three-game winning streak - though, with some salt, as they beat the Senators, Avalanche, and Montreal Canadiens but a win is a win and it creates momentum. The more significant part of this choice however, is that this game kicks off of the Blues’ annual Fathers’ Trip and we’re learning that this is an angle that must be played. There is extra motivation, to the degree of a playoff game, for these players that are accompanied by their dad’s. We saw Los Angeles play its best game of the year as a +160 underdog in Dallas on Tuesday and we learned afterward it was the first game of the Dad’s two-game trip. This is an angle we’ll be looking out for and it gets applied here with this being the first game of the Blues annual dad’s trip.
