7:00 PM EST. OT included. The Islanders are coming off back-to-back wins after a home and home with the Flyers and while those W's look good on paper, they both came in overtime. Had a bounce or two go the other way, w’s be discussing back-to-back losses. To give you an idea of how fortunate you have to be to win back to back OT games, the Isles hadn't done it for 10 years. Last night, New York had to rally from down two goals in the third period just to force overtime. While forward Andrew Ladd said, “Anytime we’re down, I don’t think there’s much panic on the bench”. Playing from behind isn't a recipe for long term success. Another big reason for the Islanders good fortune against Philly was the fact NYI converted on three of eight power-play attempts in those two games. The Flyers had just three PP's total. The Islanders were 0-20 to start the year on the power-play, so they were due for a correction, but while those tallies with the man advantage are often the difference, they cannot be counted on from game to game, as special teams units go hot and cold throughout the season. Regardless, the Isles are getting a little bit too much credit here to a team that ranks 22nd in Corsi Against per 60 minutes during five-on-five play. The Islanders goaltending is also weak.

The Senators are coming off an ugly on paper 5-2 loss in Columbus last night but that lopsided score doesn't reflect how well everyone other than goaltender Craig Anderson played last night. The Sens got on the board first, and the game was tied going to the third period before the Jackets put three goals past Anderson on seven shots. Ottawa posted 14 SOGs of its own but couldn't cash in. Hockey is a result oriented business and because of their recent five-game slide, the Sens aren't likely to be on too many tickets today. After another below average performance from Anderson, the Sens will roll with Mike Condon between the pipes and while he's just 1-3 this season, we maintain he's the best option for the Sens in the net moving forward. His three losses all came in overtime, and the last time Ottawa won a game, November 11th at home to Colorado, Condon backed them to the victory. He could just as easily be 4-0 with a little luck. We know Condon gives the Senators the best chance to win and now the Sens stock is low enough to get behind them here.
