8:05 PM EST. Regulation only. Minnesota is coming off a 3-2 OT victory last night against Colorado in Minnesota. The Wild will now play its fourth game in six nights, third game in four nights and tail end of back-to-backs. We played the Wild in Buffalo on Wednesday and they had a 5-2 lead in the third period of that game only to allow the Sabres to come within a goal with six minutes left to play. They built that 5-2 lead only because Chad Johnson was brutal (he was yanked) and not because they were dominating play. Not putting the Sabres away when you have a three-goal third period lead is concerning. Getting outshot by Colorado at home last night and getting out-Corsied (43-32) is also concerning. The Wild rank 29th in Corsi For this year and 20th in Corsi Against and they are not fresh right now either.

We played the Blue Notes last night and ripped up our tickets after a 1-0 home loss to the Preds. St. Louis came out in the first period very flat and didn’t get its first real scoring chance until the second period. They started to dominate about midway through the second period but ran into a hot goaltender in Pekka Rinne. That’s not terrible. The Blue Notes are not likely to be flat to start here. They had been the NHL’s most rested team going into last night’s game and were lethargic to start. The Blue Notes rank second in the league in Corsi Against and fourth in Corsi for during five-on-five play. They also figure to be the more energized team here by a wide margin. We’re not going to over-analyze this. Give the Blue Notes every edge both statistically, metrically and intangibly and get behind them to defeat this very beatable intruder. Statistically, Devan Dubnyk has better numbers than Jake Allen but Dubnyk’s play has been awful recently with save percentages of .867, .840 and .882 in his last three games and .833 and .834 in back-to-back games very recently too.
