First of all, College of Charleston has a semi-home-court advantage, as this game will be played at North Charleston Coliseum which is just 11 miles from the Cougars' campus at TD Arena. While the hometown story is nice, attendance hasn't been that great for the Cougars games. There were many empty seats for their semi-final tilt against William & Mary last night. Secondly, the Cougars' appeal today is heightened after they swept the season series with the Huskies 2-0, covering both games, which including a lopsided 82-66 decision the last time these two teams played in Charleston. Finally, the Cougars have been on fire after winning 13 or their last 14 games, but this program played one of the weakest schedules in the nation, ranking just 341 out of 351 schools. The Cougars non-conference schedule was a joke as well (337), thus, weak conference competition cannot be blamed for their overall poor strength of schedule.

Unlike their competition tonight, the Huskies challenged themselves before CAA play began with the 58th toughest non-conference schedule in the nation. That stiff scheduling included games with Power Five schools like Stanford and Ohio State as well as tough mid-majors like St. Bonaventure. Taking their lumps early certainly appears to have served the Huskies well, as they finished the season on a seven-game winning streak that has continued into this conference tournament and now stands at nine. The last team to beat Northeastern was these Cougars, and that is a fact that surely has not been lost on this group. There is a cliche that says it's hard to beat a team three times in a season, but there is a reason that old sayings stands the test of time, and that's because they’re true. The Huskies are battle-tested and more than capable of punching their ticket to The Big Dance tonight. Huskies outright is the call.
