11:05 PM EST. 19-win Portland State turned heads this season with those in the know proclaiming this squad had the chance to bust many a bracket. However, the loss of leading scorer Deontae North, who was suspended indefinitely by head coach Barret Peery may have put an end to those lofty expectations. Without North, the Vikings finished the season with a 4-1 record, but it would be foolish to think this is the same squad without him. There is no smoke surrounding North's departure with regards to a violation or pending charges, and neither side is talking. With no explanation given for his star players absence, one has to wonder if Peery is cutting off his nose to spite his face.

The Hornets had an awful end to the season, as a win over these North-less Vikings on January 27th, and a season-ending victory over Northern Colorado bookended a month's worth of defeats. While a 2-9 record to end the season isn't likely to inspire much confidence in the market, Sacramento State has already proven they can hang and win against this version of the Vikings. The Hornets are one of those teams that is notorious for playing up to their competition, as they covered non-conference games against Colorado State, San Francisco, St. Joe's and St. Mary's as a double-digit dog. Sac State swept the season series with a home win over Portland State in December when North was still in the lineup. The Hornets were taking back 8½-points on their home court that night, and now this team is priced in a similar range. That's not right, as this game will be played on a neutral site and Sac State gets to face a much weaker Portland State lineup. The upset is absolutely on the table here.
