This year, however, the Tigers only possible path to get their ticket punched to the dance is to win the American Conference Tournament that begins in approximately three weeks. The only thing left to do now for the Tigers is to wait for that to start. Tulane is in the exact same boat but there are some major differences between the situations here and they all favor the Green Wave.

Memphis is coming off a rare road win against SMU in a tightly contested battle that came down to the wire. The Tigers also have the Cougars up next back in Memphis so this game is sandwiched between the win at SMU and the home game against Houston. Furthermore, this is only the third time all year that the Tigers are playing back-to-back road games and the first two times it occurred, Memphis lost the second game by nine and 20 points respectively. That was at a time when the games meant more than they do today. We seriously have to question the Tigers state of mind and what will motivate them here. There are no scores to settle with the Green Wave, as they beat them back in Memphis already this year and they always beat them. Memphis’ focus and intensity level has to be high for them to win on the road because they’re very simply an average or below average mid-major squad that has nothing on the line here. Of course all of that applies to the Green Wave too but Tulane is at home, where they have been ultra competitive all season and this is a great chance for them to beat a team that has beaten up on them forever. This is a very short price on a very live favorite in a perfect spot.
